USEFUL DENTAL CARE

The most important and most ignored tip to having healthy teeth is brushing them twice a day. It would help if you brushed your teeth twice a day after having your meals. Once you have brushed your teeth, you should immediately floss them too, to remove any pieces of food stuck in between your teeth. Make it a habit to brush your teeth for at least two minutes, covering all of your teeth.

  • AVOID SUGARY FOOD

When we talk about avoiding sugary food, we are not just talking about the sugar intake you get from your tea/coffee, chocolate, or candy. Sugary is also added in various other food items, which you might not suspect. Many energy drinks and packet food contains a high level of sugar. You should pay attention to sugar in drinks and in all the other food that you eat. Check the sugar content in any food or drink before buying and consuming it. Try to avoid eating candy or chocolates. If you do, make sure that you only eat a small portion. Sugar is responsible for greatly increasing the level of plaque on your teeth. Hence, leaving your teeth prone to cavities. Also, if you have a sweet tooth, you better watch out and be extra careful while brushing your teeth.

  • DRINK PLENTY OF WATER

Water encourages saliva production, which helps to maintain healthy teeth. Your average water intake per day should count to at least six to eight glasses as it is good not just for your teeth but for your overall health. Switch any of your regular sugary drinks for water to ensure healthier teeth, as sugar only helps develop bacteria over your teeth, which results in the accumulation of plaque, eventually leading to tooth decay.

  • GET YOUR CALCIUM AND VITAMINS

Our teeth and bones are made up of calcium, and hence, to have strong teeth and bones, calcium intake is important. You can get a daily source of calcium from dairy products and nuts. Also, to absorb that calcium, your body requires vitamin D, which you only get from sunlight. So, make sure that you go out and absorb plenty of sunlight now and then.

  • VISIT THE DENTIST

You do not always have to dread the dentist. Dentists take a thorough check-up of your teeth, looking for any plaque or cavities. It would help if you visited a dentist at least every six months to get your teeth checked.
